Hampton Bay Days Festival Demographics The City of Hampton, the fifth largest metropolitan area in the southeast US, is located in the heart of Hampton Roads. With direct and easy access via I-64 and I-664, Hampton anchors the southern end of the Chesapeake Bay. Founded in 1610, it's one of America's oldest cities. Our three-day festival brings upwards of 250,000 people to downtown Hampton. Celebrating our 25th year in 2007, Bay Days offers a very loyal audience. Bay Days appeals to a family audience, nearly 44% of our attendees attend with children under the age of fourteen, and almost 60% of our attendees are between the ages of 26 and 49. Our mission of encouraging stewardship of the Chesapeake Bay gives our sponsors the opportunity to be associated with a large three-day festival that has a serious purpose, the preservation of the Chesapeake Bay. Attendance Profile The combined Hampton and Newport News population is 325,578 and about 62% of our 250,000 attendees come from these two cities. Approximately, 31% are from other Hampton Roads cities with Virginia Beach, Yorktown, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Williamsburg, and Richmond ranking the highest. About 7% of our festival attendees come from other regions of Virginia and from out of the state to attend Hampton Bay Days.
